The White Lounge Chair & Ottoman by Vitra (Charles & Ray Eames, 1956 / Hella Jongerius, 2002): Since 1956, the Eames Lounge Chair has combined ultimate comfort with highest quality materials and workmanship. In the tradition of the English club chair, which inspired this classic design by Charles and Ray Eames, the original appearance of the Lounge Chair was defined by a dark wood veneer and black leather. However, the Eameses also created an early version with light-coloured leather upholstery. Now Vitra introduces a new interpretation of the Lounge Chair, developed in cooperation with Hella Jongerius and the Eames Office. With white leather, polished aluminium and walnut veneer in a light finish, the new version harmonises perfectly with light-coloured interiors now also available in a version that allows maximum comfort for tall people.
Shell walnut veneer in a light finish (white pigmented); seat and backrest shells in bent plywood, connection with rubber/metal shock connection (shock mounts), removable upholstery with premium leather covers, colour snow; polished base.

Lounge Chair, classic version: 840 x 840 x 850 mm.
Lounge Chair, new interpretation: 930 x 840 x 850 mm.
Ottoman: 420 x 630 x 560 mm.

Designer furniture & lights by Hella Jongerius at lachair.com

Hella Jongerius, born 1963 in de Meern, Netherlands, studied design at the Industrial Design Academy in Eindhoven. She subsequently attracted international attention through her work for the Dutch design label Droog Design. She taught at the Design Academy in Eindhoven from 1998-99, serving as head of the department Living/Atelier from 2000-04. In 2000, she founded the design studio JongeriusLab in Rotterdam, where she creates, produced and markets many of her designs – primarily dishware, vases, textiles and furnishings.
