Alexander von Reiswitz, born 1965 in Málaga studied art history before switching over to architecture and photography.  His knowledge of the long tradition of portraiture and his feel for portraits come together with precision and relevance in his black and white photos, making his studies seem like a seminal detour to his photography.  Architecture and portraiture were and are still his domain, but Reiswitz proves that portrait photography does not have to limit itself to people.

Vita

  1965 Born in Málaga, Spain
  1982 moved to Munich
  1982-86 Degree in art history from Ludwig-Maximilians Universität, Munich
  1987-94 Degree in architecture from the Ecole d´Architecture de Paris-la-villette, Paris
  1986-88 Photo lab assistant in various professional black-and-white photo labs, Paris
  Architecture firms Jens Freiberg, Jean Aubert, Jean Lattanzio, Sonacotra
  1988-90 Founded club "INSOLIT CREPUSCUL": Ateliers for fashion, film and photography, Orsay
  1994 moved to Berlin
  1994-96 Practiced architecture in various Berliner architecture firms
  1997 Founded ATELIER A, Atelier for architecture and photography, Berlin (Photography studio und architectural office)
  1999-2000 Founded "KAMAELEON" for the organization of international cultural exchange for artists Organized and ran the   artist-exchange program Paris-Berlin with the club "Le Génie de La Bastille"; Lives and works in Berlin
